LSE is an authorized preparation centre for the Cambridge Examinations and an exam venue which means that exams take place in our premises thus allowing the candidates to feel at ease and perform to the best of their ability.
This is a two hour a day fun-filled programme for toddlers and young children taught entirely in English from day 1.
This unique method builds on children's natural ability to absorb spoken language, through singing and playing, repetitive hearing and positive reinforcement. Classes offer a fun, relaxing environment where children can pick up English with the same ease as they learn their mother tongue.
We use a variety of methods which are suitable for young learners like making arts and crafts, playing games, carrying out simple experiments. We also use the Jolly Phonics method for teaching the alphabet.
This course aims at improving student’s understanding of written and spoken English and enhance student’s ability in using the language. Students will feel more confident to speak and write in English by the end of the course (minimum 2 weeks and up to 6 weeks) and they can sit an exam* and receive an official certificate should they want to.
*Cambridge English: Young Learners is a series of fun, motivating English language tests, aimed at children in primary and lower-secondary education. There are three activity-based tests – Starters, Movers and Flyers. This gives students a clear path to improve in English.
This course aims at helping students gain a better understanding of the English Language and study Grammar in more depth. Students will be asked to read and understand more complex texts and produce longer pieces of writing. They will be challenged in many ways but by the end of the course they will have managed to improve their English is all four areas: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Again, students can sit the LSE internal exams and receive a certificate stating their level and grade or sit a Cambridge exam**.
** A Cambridge English: Key (KET) qualification is proof of your ability to use English to communicate in simple situations. The exam tests all four English language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking.
A Cambridge English: Preliminary (PET) qualification shows that you have mastered the basics of English and now have practical language skills for everyday use.
A Cambridge English: First (FCE) qualification proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English.
IELTS: IELTS is an important test of academic English and is used by many universities around the world as an entry requirement.
Cambridge Exams: All Adult English classes at LSE are broadly based on the “communicative” Cambridge Examinations syllabus; this means that even a short course at LSE will provide General English that forms the basis of Cambridge exams. In the afternoon classes, the focus is on skills and examination technique in addition to language.
This course focuses on improving communicational skills and helping the students become fluent speakers. Students will be able to learn English for every day use and practice reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will work on completing mini projects and dealing with everyday tasks like writing emails for work purposes, ordering something online or asking and giving information and/or directions.
Intensive programme combining General English (10 hours per week) with English for Specific Purposes (12 hours per week).
